Signings: Michael McBride

I’m happy to report that Delirium Books has reached an agreement with author Michael McBride for 2 unpublished novels:

  • God’s End
  • The Infected

God’s End will be published in the first half of 2007. Here’s more information:

The not-so-distant future…

The fledgling democratic state of Iraq is invaded by Syria, triggering a series of events leading to the brink of World War III. Unbeknownst to the recently redeployed American troops, the Middle Eastern countries have formed a secret alliance, baiting the armed forces into traps both in the Persian Gulf and the now-defenseless United States. As the world speeds toward its demise, fulfilled prophecies give rise to the physical manifestations of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who usher the earth into its next phase of evolution. Pestilence’s mosquitoes and Famine’s locusts spread genetic mutations that alter man and animal alike, creating War’s fearsome reptilian army, The Swarm.

Faced with imminent annihilation, those who survive mankind’s own extinction agenda must find each other across a rapidly changing landscape to rally their numbers in the face of Death’s legion of genocide. Will humanity prove itself worthy of surviving to usher in a new era of life on earth…or will it succumb to God’s End?

The zombie novel The Infected will be published in the last half of 2007/early 2008. More information will be forthcoming on this.

  1. Thats good news Shane.

  2. WE already knew about God’s End. Now The Infected sounds cool. MAybe that will be an X-Series?

  3. Hey! it better not be no damned x-series. Ain’t the x-series the exclusive books for those of you that were born into the elusive Delirium inner circle? Sorry you can’t do that. If it’s got zombies in it, I’ll be needing it. God’s End sounds cool too. I like stories of the End Times. I have not heard of this Michael McBride, but he sounds pretty slick…I’ll sit right here on the edge of my seat and wait awhile, whilst I churn through my current Delirium books.

  4. Aye! Aye! I hear you, Jack!

Damn the X-Series !!! Shane believes only 92 people should read these books. His and Delirium’s other hardcore fans are not allowed to. No sir, give all the X-Series to Kresby ! I am thinking at Body Counting of David Whitman, for example. This book is a treasure by judging only the cover. And of course, you cannot find it ANYWHERE ! But who cares ?!

This McBride guy sounds pro, though. He made my list of 2007 anticipated books.

  5. michael these two projects sound awesome…
cheers shane for doing them delirium style.
    mmmmm! zombies

  6. Sweeeeeeet!!!!!

  7. I didn’t want to write a zombie novel unless I could add something fresh in the same way Keene revolutionized zombies as we know them. The Infected is a heavily researched tale more about the origin of the creatures and their immediate impact than the aftermath. I hope you guys love it!

  8. sounds great Mike. What is it about zombies that so many of us love? I forgot about the X-series limitation when I posted earlier. Sorry guys.

  9. Michael McBride is an OUTSTANDING addition to the Delirium family. Since his novelette ZERO sold all 275 copies almost instantly, a McBride novel being placed in the Exclusives series would cause hurt feelings, tears, rioting, stabbing, and mass suicide.

  10. Body Counting is not a good example of the limitation of the x-series, since 8 more books COULD have been printed if they were ordered. Given the success of MM, I vote for regular runs.

  11. Glad to see these both formally announced. I’m jump in with everybody else to praise Mike’s talents. He’s a great writer (one of my fav’s), as well as one of the nicest guys I know. I can’t wait to get my hands on these books!

  12. This is great! I’ve been a fan of both Delirium and Michael McBride for a while now. It’ll be great to see what they do together.

  13. has anyone else here read species? its not been mentioned much when praising michaels writing, and was in my top 5 fave reads from last year.

  14. I’ve got Species: Chronicles of the Apocalypse coming and can’t wait to read it. Getting McBride on board with Delirium for a pair of titles is great news (Zero was nothing short of awesome!)
